Cult classic The Rocky Horror Show coming to Savoy

- BY CAPE BRETON POST STAFF

It’s time to do the Time Warp again with auditions being called for The Rocky Horror Show, to be staged this fall at the Savoy Theatre.

Auditions will be held April 22, 12:304:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Savoy’s main stage. The show requires singers, dancers, actors and those who aren’t afraid to let loose.

All those auditioning must prepare excerpts from The Rocky Horror Show, which will be provided once you email to book an audition time. Each person has to sing one to two excerpts from ensemble works as well as their choice of an except for a leading or featured character which best suits their vocal range. This is a group format audition so special time requests cannot be accommodated.

Each person will also be asked to attend a movement audition from 6-8 p.m. on April 22 where you will be taught basic choreography and asked to perform in groups. Those taking part should wear fitted dance wear and appropriate footwear.

Also bring a short resume of around one page to show relevant musical and theatre experience with a 4x6 print of a recent photo. These must be printed copies, not digital.

Since the show isn’t appropriate for all audiences, the age requirement is 16 and older by June 1, 2018.

To book your audition, please email savoyauditions@gmail.com.

The show, with permission from Samuel French, will come to the Savoy stage in October of this year. It will be directed by Cynthia Lahey with Todd March as musical director and Cynthia and Andrea Vokey doing the choreography.
