TRUCKAIR, Lambert Leslie

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Lambert Leslie Truckair, announce his passing on April 4, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family at his side. Dad was born June 18, 1925 in Glace Bay to Joseph and Eva Truckair and lived most of his life on Brookland Street.

At the age of 18 he joined the navy and served aboard the HMCS Leaside in the North Atlantic during WWII.

After returning home he worked with Devco but his greatest joy was leaving the

harbor at first light to go lobster fishing with his sons and grandkids.

Lambert was a proud and longstandi­ng member of the Branch #3 Royal Canadian Legion Glace Bay.

Lambert is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Roger) Gosselin, Marion Bridge; sons, Wesley Truckair (Helen), Glace Bay and Joseph Truckair (Diane), Mission BC; daughterin-law, Esther Truckair, 12 grandkids, and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife of seventy years, Elsie Truckair (nee MacLeod); his son, Robert Truckair, and sister, Mary Grandy.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Pattern Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay with Rev. Myrna MacMullen officiatin­g. Interment will take place at a later date in the Forest Haven Cemetery.

A reception will be held at the church immediatel­y following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay can be made in Lambert’s memory.
