Robert “Greg” Sawlor, 67, of Sydney, passed away Sunday, April 8th, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of Rita (Gaudet) and the late Robert Sawlor.

Greg is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Cuff); son, Scott (Danielle) and his grandson, Sam, Beaver Cove; sisters, Karen (David) Joseph, Stephenvil­le, NL and Donna (Craig) Buckland, Sydney; brothers, Walter (Elaine), Sydney, Rick (Paula), Sydney and Brad (Rhona), Fredericto­n, NB; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dave) MacKay, Bras d’Or; brother-in-law, Harold, Niagara Falls, along with many nieces and nephews.

Greg was predecease­d by his sister, Brenda Sawlor and sisterin-law, Dale Cuff.

Greg graduated from Sydney Academy and St. FX University. He was a natural athlete, excelling in both hockey and baseball. His work ethic was unrivalled - just ask anyone who worked with him. In retirement, Greg felt most at home in Beaver Cove, where he enjoyed working on projects with his son, Scott. Greg’s performanc­es at the annual MacDawlor gatherings will certainly be missed.

Greg loved his family fiercely. He treasured the time he spent with his mother and anytime he spent with his grandson, Sam, was quality time. Greg especially loved living with his true love Sharon who was his “caregiver” until the end. Greg played hard, worked hard and loved hard.

Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. Thursday April 12th, 2018 in Sydney Memorial Chapel, with a service at 2 p.m. in the chapel, Rev. Dennis Lamey officiatin­g. Interment will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Care Fund or the An Cala Unit, both at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
