ELDRIDGE, Roderick James

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Roderick Eldridge, at the age of 91, on April 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Jack and Mary Eldridge.

Roderick worked as a coal miner in collieries 12, 16, Prince as well as the Coal Prep Plant. He also enjoyed playing cards and loved playing the fiddle, which he became a member of the Fiddlers Associatio­n.

He is survived by his children, Robert (Wendy), Ronald, Donald, Maureen, Nancy and Patricia (Donald), and brothers, Cyril (Harriet), Melvin and Raymond. He is also survived by many grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children; daughter-in-law, Melinda Eldridge, and his special friend, Gisella Madden.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by wife, Leona Cashin; children, Joe, Greg, Gordie and daughter Rose in infancy; sisters, Viola (Dave) and Alice (Mickey); brother, John (Eleanor); sisters-in-laws, Jean and Diane, as well as sonin-law, Vessy.

Cremation has taken place. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiatin­g. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Luncheon location will be announced at the chapel service.
