Beer lovers will be raising their glasses at this year’s Full House Cape Breton event taking place at Centre 200’s concourse tonight from 7-10 p.m.

Organizer Marc Botte says the event is expected to attract about 350 people and will mark the beginning of Nova Scotia Craft Beer Week.

“Nova Scotia’s craft beer industry has been steadily growing for some time,” said Botte. “This industry represents the spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship that makes Nova Scotia such a compelling place to live and work.”

It’s the third year for the event which was called the Cape Breton Kitchen Party last year. It is not to be confused with the Cape Breton Craft Beer Fest which takes place in December at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, although both events share some of the same organizers.

Among the breweries attending are Tatamagouche Brewing Co., Rare Bird Craft Beer, Good Robot Brewing Co., North Brewing Company, Nine Locks Brewing Co., Sea Port Garrison Brewing Co., Tride’s Craft Beer, 2 Crows Brewing Co., Propeller Brewing Co., Saltbox Brewing Co., Boxing Rock Brewing Co., Wayfarers’ Ale Society and local breweries Breton Brewing Co. and Big Spruce Brewing.

Botte says he’s not sure what beers will be on tap but each brewery usually brings two to four different types each.

Tickets are $49 plus HST for those 19 and over and can be purchased from the Centre 200 box office or from Breton Brewing or Big Spruce.

For designated drivers, tickets are $15 plus HST.

Twelve beer samples are included

in the price of admission. Food will be available for purchase from Little Rolling Bistro, Kiju’s and the Island Sauce Co.

Live music will be supplied by Redmond MacDougall, Ben Young, RG Schaller and Chuck Smith of Once Gentlemen.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Loaves and Fishes Cape Breton.
