John ‘Jackie’ Murdock MacDonald, 72, of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2018. Jackie was the son of the late Angus and Ethel MacDonald of Baddeck.

He was predecease­d by his loving wife, Nancy MacDonald, eleven months ago.

He is survived by his three children, Kevin (Marguerite), Kirk (Shauna) and Kim (Kyle). Jackie was the loving grandfathe­r to four grandchild­ren, Shea, Sarah and Katherine (Kevin) and Joshua (Kim). He is also survived by his sister, Catherine (MacDonald) Matheson.

Jackie was born and raised in Baddeck and met the love of his life, Nancy, while she was working for the summer at the Silver Dart. They were married in 1966.

Jackie worked in constructi­on and as a heavy equipment operator for several years early in his adult life before deciding to become the manager and caretaker of the Alexander Graham Bell Estate, Beinn Bhreagh in 1974. He worked there for almost 40 years. His work allowed him to be home with his family everyday.

Jackie loved the outdoors and both his work and activities kept him there. Whether working on Beinn Bhreagh or hunting, trapping, fishing, sailing or snowmobili­ng he spent most of his life outside and shared that with his family.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, NS with visitation at MacAskill Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service held on Wednesday, May 2 at 3 p.m. at Knox Presbyteri­an Church with Reverend Brian MacLeod.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Bras d’Or Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program.
