Public invited to celebrate Police Week

SYDNEY — Residents of the Cape Breton Regional Municipali­ty wanting insight into how police do their job are encouraged to attend a meet and greet barbecue this weekend.

Officers with the Cape Breton Regional Police will be at the Mayflower Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Police Week celebratio­ns. Those attending will able to talk with officers about their job and see some of the equipment they use daily to help keep communitie­s safe. Also on hand will be the four-legged members of the police service K-9 unit. There will be face painting and door prizes and kids are invited to participat­e in a colouring contest for a chance to win a new bicycle.

One winner will be selected in each of three age categories: 5-under, 6-8 and 9-12. The colouring page is available for download on the police service website at www. cbrps.ca or for pick-up at any of the service’s police buildings and CBRM city hall.

All submission­s must be received back by 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 22.
