It is with profound sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of William ‘Bill’ Ferguson, 89, of North Sydney, formerly of Sydney Mines on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Born in Sydney Mines on August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Ferguson) Ferguson.

Bill worked for Modern City Dairy for twenty-five years before becoming the Maintenanc­e Supervisor for the Northside Guest Home, from the time it opened until his retirement.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Jones) Ferguson; his son, Louis (Michelle), Sydney Mines; daughter, Kathy, Dartmouth; his grandchild­ren, Timothy (Karen), Timberlea, NS, Stephen, North Sydney and Douglas, Dartmouth; great grandson, Logan; his stepdaught­er, Suzanne (Stuart) MacLeod, Sydney, and step grandson, Matthew, Sydney.

Bill was predecease­d by his first wife, Audrey (MacLeod) Ferguson; his sisters, Christine MacNeil, Peggy MacLeod, June Evans, Anna Lewis and Dru MacPhee-Potter, and brothers, Rod, George, Gordon, Donald and Bruce. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

The family would like to take this opportunit­y to thank Dr. Knott and Dr. Kohlsmith for their profession­alism and care.

Visitation for Bill will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney, with Rev. John Hannem officiatin­g. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
