On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Patricia MacNeil, wife, mother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Iona.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of nearly 40 years, Michael; sons, Brad, Ian (Kristy), Stuart (Vanessa), Mark (Samantha). She also leaves behind her pride and joy, grandchildren, Colby, Lillian and Lucy.

Trish was born on May 30, 1957 to Harold and Margaret Anne MacFarlane of Upper Margaree. She was a sister of Alice (Farlane), Frank (Leeann), Sara (Rick), Maureen (Alfred), Jim (Susan), Sharon (Patrick) and sister-in-law of Mabel (John). She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Mark; as well as several aunts and uncles.

Trish was an independent, hard working woman who loved her family. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people and was always happy to serve her boys their favorites. She and Michael welcomed many visitors to their home and no one left without having a good cup of tea and some baked goodies.

Over the years, Trish volunteered her time to many community organizations, including the Barra Food Bank and the Grand Narrows Waterfront Development Society. She was a charter member of the Legion’s “Thursday Night Peelers” where food preparations were done over a story or two. Trish had a green thumb and enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers both at home and in Pony’s Point, where she worked for many years. She was known for “always holding her tongue” and “never voicing her opinion”.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will take place at the family home, 40 Celtic Court, Iona on Saturday, June 2nd. All are welcome to drop in for a visit and a cup of tea from 2 – 5 p.m.

In memory of Patricia, donations may be made to the Barra Food Bank.
