Taste for camping

Day gives 4H members chance to learn about camping

- SCHOOL

Camp Rankin Clover Day is an exciting day where Cloverbuds and junior members can experience a taste of the Camp Rankin camping experience.

The event will happen at the provincial 4-H camp, Camp Rankin, on Saturday June 23, from 10 until 3:30 p.m. and is open to members in the Cape Breton and Eastern Regions.

The camp is located on the beautiful Bras d‘Or Lake in Cape George, Cape Breton just outside of St. Peters.

Some of the activities that members will take part in include: a craft session, recreation games, a nature scavenger hunt, a wienny roast on the beach and a campfire with songs.

Campers will have the opportunity to hear stories from their counsellors which have attended Camp Rankin many times themselves and/or have worked as Camp Rankin counsellors during the regular Camp Rankin camping season.

The day’s events will be run by the region’s 4-H summer assistants and the agricultural leadership co-ordinators and is sponsored by Farm Credit Canada. There will be an information session hosted by the agricultural leadership coordinator for parents about the 4-H year and what the program has to offer youth. The Camp Rankin Clover day is the perfect opportunity for Cloverbuds and Junior members to spend a fun day in the sun and meet new friends.

If your child would be interested in attending the event, or you would like more information you can contact the 4H office at 902-945-2901 or email Nicole.MacEachern@novascotia.ca.
