Employers in Cape Breton are expecting a “respectable” hiring climate for the third quarter of 2018, according to the latest survey released by ManpowerGroup.

“Survey data reveals that 32 per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter (July to September), while three per cent anticipate cutbacks,” Julianne Ross Brooks of Manpower’s Halifax office said in a release.

Another 61 per cent of employers expect to maintain their current staffing levels in the upcoming quarter, while the remaining four per cent are unsure of their hiring intentions.

According to the ManpowerGroup employment outlook survey, once seasonal variations are removed from the data, Cape Breton’s third-quarter net employment outlook of 13 per cent is a one percentage point increase when compared to the previous quarterly survey.

As a whole, the country is expecting to see employers in the transportation and public utilities sector anticipating the most active hiring climate of any industry.

ManpowerGroup also reported for the fifth consecutive quarter that employers in Quebec will have the strongest job prospects overall.
