Motor Madness on Saturday

Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation raising money for equipment

-

The Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation will host its fourth annual Cape Breton Motor Madness show on Saturday at the Emera Centre Northside.

The fundraiser is in support of the hospital foundation and money raised will be used to improve the lives of patients and visitors at both Northside General and Harbourview hospitals.

Last year’s event was the largest held to date. The Emera Centre Northside was alive with motorcycles, fully restored antique tractors, dragsters, antique, tuner and muscle cars.

Vendors from all over the island set up displays, showcased products and met with the public who purchased their products and services.

The Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation intended for the day to be affordable for families.

The foundation was overwhelmed by the support it received from the “anything with a motor” owners.

The event attracted 225 registered entries from Nova Scotia and 2,000 people through the gate.

The Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation is celebrating its 26th anniversary and is governed by a volunteer board of directors which includes 15 members from the community, one co-ordinator and one fundraising/events coordinator.

The foundation raises money for the purchase of equipment at Northside General Hospital and Harbourview Hospital through in memoriam donations, corporate support, community events, bequests and private donations.

It also supports health-care education and through designated donations, we assist specific areas of the hospital such as the veterans unit, palliative care, early cancer prevention, renal dialysis and an adult day program.
