Graduates to network with startup entrepreneurs

-

Nova Scotia startups interested in meeting and hiring graduates from a program aimed at training the next generation of entrepreneurs will be held in Halifax on Monday.

The Nova Scotia cohort of Venture for Canada fellows will network with potential employers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Innovacorp Enterprise Centre at 1344 Summer St. in Halifax.

Venture for Canada fellows are top post-grad students from across the country and come from diverse academic and personal backgrounds.

The majority are recent graduates and are looking for entry level positions. About 50 per cent of fellows have business backgrounds, 25 per cent come from science, technology, engineering and math fields, and another 25 per cent from other academic disciplines.

Companies interested in hiring graduates must become approved partners with Venture for Canada.

Information on becoming a partner is available by contacting symone@ventureforcanada.ca to learn more.

Startups hire fellows as company employees and are responsible for all employee costs.

A $500 training and development fee is paid to Venture for Canada by the startup upon hiring graduates.

Startups must notify Venture for Canada upon hiring graduates from the program.

Venture for Canada attracts, trains and supports ambitious and entrepreneurial graduates, and connects them with select startup ventures, to create experiential learning opportunities.

Fellows complete a month-long training camp program with Venture for Canada and commit to working at startups for two years.
