All shook up on Mabou stage

King of rock meets queens of country

Back by popular demand, international world champion Thane Dunn and his Cadillac Kings are returning to the Strathspey Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, June 29, 7:30 p.m., with a new show that combines the music of Elvis Presley and country music.

“Elvis Rock and Country” features not only Elvis’ iconic rock songs, from “Blue Suede Shoes” to “Suspicious Minds,” but because Elvis brought a certain style to his country songs, Dunn will be adding several of Presley’s country hits like “Always on My Mind,” “Kentucky Rain” and many more.

“The Rhinestone Cowgirl” will salute the queens of country music, such as Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline.

Dunn has been called the full Elvis package, delivering not only the look, voice, moves, and mannerisms, but his personality and boyish charm help make believers of the audience.

His show is endorsed by several people who worked and performed with Presley in the 1970s and Dunn will be wearing an exact replica of Elvis’ favourite stage suit called the Embroidered Peacock.

“Things have been very busy since our last show at Strathspey,” said Dunn. “We’ve been performing with Bill Baize of Elvis’ original Stamps Quartet and he is actually my vocal coach. We are doing this show because not only do I love Elvis but have always loved classic country, that sadly, rarely gets radio play anymore. People want to hear it. Thane Dunn will perform at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre in Mabou on Saturday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m.
