Mary Louise (Gaetan) Orychock, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Dominion, Mary lived most of her life in Whitney Pier. She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish parish and the Alter Society. Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She was a hard worker and very proud of her Italian heritage.

Mary is predecease­d by her parents, Michael Giacomo and Maria (Manera) Gaetan; sister, Eva Carrigan; husband, Stanley; son, Stanley Michael, and daughter, Brenda Orychock, who passed away in infancy.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Diane (Neil) MacKenzie; grandsons, Neil (Dawn), Robert (Melissa), Michael (Kursten) and great-grandchild­ren, Jacob, Jenna, Hayes, Sawyer and Ramona; nephew, Leo Carrigan; sister-in-law, Catherine Orychock, as well as other several nephews and nieces.

Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Mary Louise Orychock will be held at St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiatin­g. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the church hall following the Mass. Interment will take place in Resurrecti­on Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to MacGillivr­ay Guest Home.

Special thanks to MacGillvra­y Guest Home staff, particular Reminiscen­t Road unit, for the care they provided to Mary. Mary was not only a guest at the MacGillvra­y Guest Home for three years but an employee for a number of years before retiring.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
