Elizabeth Theresa Burton, 87, of St. Margaret’s Village, Nova Scotia, died peacefully at Highland Manor, Neil’s Harbour, on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

Liz was born in St. Margaret’s Village on August 24, 1930, the youngest child of Peter James and Margaret (Kavanaugh) Burton. Moving away from her beloved village in the 1950s, Liz lived in Germany, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia before returning home in 1985.

Aside from her parents, she was predecease­d by her brothers, George, Alec, Donald, Jack, Allan, Andrew, Frank, and Ernie, and sisters, Mamie and Mary. Liz is survived by her sister, Julia (Judy); sister-in-law Mary; son, Andre and daughterin-law, Helen; their children, Tammy, Stacy and Joel, as well as four great grandchild­ren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Liz was a caring and devoted mother, grandmothe­r, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour, who took great joy in sharing her passion for baking, reading and animals with her grandchild­ren. She loved to get together with family and friends in her beautiful home on the hill. Liz’s loved ones will remember her warm smile and independen­t spirit, always.

The family would like to thank the staff at Highland Manor, and Liz’s nephew Billy and his wife Mei for their kindness and support, especially taking care of Liz’s little dog Puddles.

Family and friends are invited to gather at St. Margaret’s Parish on August 8, 2018, from 1-3 p.m. for visitation, followed by a Funeral Mass at 3 p.m. with Fr. Duncan MacIssac officiatin­g.
