FIRE FACTS

Parks Canada building fire:

• The fire happened around 5 a.m. on July 23, 2017 in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, near the Freshwater Lake Trail in Ingonish.

• The fire destroyed the building, which housed washrooms and a change area.

• Damage was estimated at $60,000.

• Firefighters from the Ingonish Beach and North Ingonish volunteer fire departments responded. Parks Canada fire crews were also called to the scene as a precaution.
