Scotchtown man facing several charges released on conditions

SYDNEY — A Scotchtown man was released from custody Monday on conditions after being charged with offences that include aggravated assault.

Trevor Carl Grechuk, 38, of Ryan Street, is also charged with assault, assault with a weapon (a knife), forcible confinemen­t, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, overcoming resistance by choking, and uttering a threat. The offences allegedly occurred July 5 in Scotchtown. Among the conditions of his release, Grechuk is to live at a residence on Woodward Street in Glace Bay, refrain from alcohol and drugs not prescribed him, have no contact with two people, stay out of New Waterford and abide by a curfew.

Grechuk is to return to provincial court Aug. 7 to enter pleas.
