Trial date set for Sydney man charged with assault

SYDNEY — A provincial court trial has been set for a Sydney man charged with assault and assault with a weapon (a belt).

John Edward Gnatiuk, 43, of MacRae Avenue is alleged to have committed the offences between March 10-19 in Sydney. During a provincial court appearance Monday, Gnatiuk entered not guilty pleas to the charges and was assigned a trial date of Jan. 22.
