MACPHERSON, Daniel ‘Dan’ ‘Turk’

Daniel ‘Dan’ ‘Turk’ MacPherson of St. Thomas, ON passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Elgin General Hospital, at the age of 85.

Dearly loved father of Deborah Anne and her husband Harry Geerlinks of St. Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Craig (Veronica King), Nicole (Mike Babcock), and Danielle (Aaron Gould) Geerlinks, all of St. Thomas. Dear great-grandfather to Cambree Babcock and Charlie Gould. Dearest brother to Margaret ‘Peggy’ (Ed) Collins and Jack MacPherson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Close friend to Helen Palmer.

Predeceased by beloved wife, and best friend for over 60 years, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Boudreau) MacPherson. Predeceased siblings, Adelene ‘Tootsie’ McLean, Priscilla ‘Cissy’ Carewe and Dorothy ‘Cindy’ Howard.

Dan was born February 15, 1933 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the son of late Dorothy (Vatcher) and Daniel MacPherson. Dan worked for many years at the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital until later in life. He then became involved with the family business as a valued member of the Geerlinks Home Hardware family.

He loved playing hockey and woodworking, spending time with his daughter and grandchildren, and was also known as the famous “door greeter” at Geerlinks Home Hardware. ‘Turk’ was a well-known member of our community and will be deeply missed by many.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will take place on Friday, September 7 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. and the St. Thomas Seniors Centre, 225 Chestnut St., St. Thomas. Cremation has taken place. Private entombment at South Park Cemetery.
