Comedy, photography, escape rooms on the schedule

Comedy, photography and escape rooms highlight event programming during the evening at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site this summer.

“Our special event programming is a significant step in connecting locals and visitors to the national historic site while increasing tourism through innovative experiences,” said Michelle Lahey, executive director of Fortress Louisbourg Association, in a news release.

“The association strives to build strong partnerships on tourism initiatives and this year’s summer programming is a result of this work.”

Thursday evenings will feature “The Would-Be Nobleman,” an 18th century French comedy by Molière that’s been adapted to English. It’s a first for Louisbourg and considered a unique opportunity to see the same kind of theatre that was enjoyed in the past.

Escape Louisbourg is back Monday and Tuesday evenings throughout the summer, giving participants the chance to save their lives by trying to figure out who tried to assassinate the governor.

Adam Hill brings photography to Louisbourg with his workshop, Picture the Past.

Hill’s workshop will offer tips and tricks to photograph sunsets and stars from within the fortress.

The summer lineup is a collaboration between Parks Canada and Fortress Louisbourg Association.
