CRANT, Vincent Thomas ‘Tom’

We the family regret to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r, Vincent Thomas ‘Tom’ Crant, 85, of Louisbourg, formerly from D’Espoir, NFLD. Tom passed away peacefully, on July 18, 2018 at the CBRH with his loving wife of 57 years by his side, and is finally gone to a better place after years of suffering and pain.

Tom was loved and admired by all who knew him. He was a kind and gentle soul, and a true Newfie till the end. Tom lived in Bay D’Espoir until 1978, when he decided to move his family to Louisbourg. Before his retirement Tom was a cutter with National Sea Products, Louisbourg. He was a member of St. Bartholome­ws Anglican Church. He loved music and spending time with his family whom he treasured.

He is survived by his wife, Mazie (Bowles); son, Cecil (Mary Lynn); his granddaugh­ter, the light of his life, Amanda (Ryan), also two great-grandchild­ren, Ethan and Mya, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by sister, Elizabeth Lee.

He is predecease­d by both his parents; two sisters, and two brothers.

The family would like to send a special thanks to nieces, Wavey and Glenda for their visits and boosting his spirits. Dr. Jean Crosbie, the Palliative Care doctors and nurses, VON, and especially to his home care workers who were so tender and caring to him.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. at St. Bartholome­w’s Church, Louisbourg. Funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, at 1p.m. in St. Bartholome­ws Church with Rev. Glen Kent Officiatin­g. Burial to follow in parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
