Cape Breton Post

New Dawn deserves our support

-

There has been some less than positive commentary in the Cape Breton Post of late about New Dawn Enterprises Ltd. and its vicepresident of development, Erica Shea. I have tried to say nothing but now I must.

Erica doesn’t need these negative comments. She is a fine, hard-working person and one of the nicest people one could ever meet. She is dedicated to New Dawn and dedicated to helping us achieve financial success. New Dawn is just what we need. It offers us a belief in ourselves to move forward.

I know New Dawn and I know Erica because I worked there for 17 years before retiring. The people who are employed with New Dawn work hard for us. They are investing in Cape Breton. Yet, what do they get back. Negative commentary.

I suggest support. It will work when we work together for the overall good of our community, That’s my New Dawn. It’s about us. We cannot look backwards. We must move forward into the future.

New Dawn is a catalyst for change and diversity. It is building on hopes and dreams for our Cape Breton. It is always investing in our community. If you don’t have a lot to invest, then invest a little. You’re helping create wealth by doing so. It stays here to benefit everyone - our people.

So there was a poll. So what? I have one small investment in New Dawn and I don’t mind at all. New Dawn has a voice as an organization. It has annual meetings. Anyone who has questions can ask anything they want. Do other companies do that? How often are you passed along the chain to someone in Halifax or head office. Not New Dawn. It’s run here and open to you to take a part of it.

My question is what’s wrong with the critics? Why don’t you invest in New Dawn? Go to the annual meeting as an investor. Ask questions if you wish. You can do that. Help our island. Do something positive.

Attacking Erica is unfair. Those who know her know what a great person she is. I support New Dawn. They are for us, invest in us and provide jobs for us. The money stays here, for us. It is run by local leaders who care about Cape Breton.

That’s my view and the heck with the outsiders telling us what to do.
