One of the NHL’s most wellknown personalities will be the keynote speaker for the inaugural President’s Leadership Dinner at Cape Breton University this fall.

Brian Burke, said to be one of hockey’s ‘most experienced and knowledgeable executives,’ will engage in a ‘thoughtprovoking’ and ‘hard-hitting’ interview with CBU President David Dingwall during the gala Sept. 17 event, according to a press release issued by the university.

The objective will be to revel the audience with stories and anecdotes pertaining to Burke’s personal and professional leadership experiences.

“This event will not only bring notable speakers and influencers to the community, we will dig deeper into what makes a leader in today’s global economy, all while supporting our greatest assets — the students,” Dingwall said, in a press release.

“We are looking forward to unveiling this event to the community to demonstrate the major impact that this institution can have on a national and international level.”

A deeper understanding of professional leadership from both CBU and Burke, and information about the future direction of the institution are also dinner objectives. The evening will also raise funds to support student scholarships.

Details on the establishment of the Capers Hall of Fame will also be revealed during the dinner.

The hall will recognize individuals who exemplify what it means to be a Caper, who have excelled during their time as a CBU athlete or a supporter, those making an impact in the world of sport, and those who are helping build the athletics program at CBU.

Tickets for the dinner are $120 and can be purchased at www.cbu.ca/PresidentsLeadershipDinner, by email at bu_ events@cbu.ca, and by phone at 902-563-1271.
