McINTYRE, Joseph Manning ‘Rubber’

-

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Joseph Manning McIntyre “Rubber,” announce his passing on Monday, July 23, 2018 peacefully at home with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born in Glace Bay, Manny was the son of the late Alla and Tillie (McLeod) McIntyre. He was a caring father, brother, grandfather and devoted husband to his wife, Veronica.

As a young man, Manny delivered for Gordon Brothers and worked for Sydney Minerals Spring (Double Cola) delivering pop. He was the owner and operated Dominion Taxis for over 30 years. He would be remembered most for keeping those of Dominion and surrounding areas warm, leaving the comfort of his own home to deliver oil to others. Whether it be 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 a.m. Manny would be on his way. He retired from Sydco Fuels at the very young age of 80. Manny was known for his extreme quick wit, funny stories and the nicknames he had for everyone he met.

He is survived by the love of his life, Veronica (Hogan) McIntyre; his son, Paul McIntyre (Paula); daughters, Brenda Horne (Danny) and Ann Louise MacDonald (Clarence). He will be loved and missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sylvia Dunn (Tony), brothers; Arthur (Tickie), Greggy and Jimmy.

Manny is predeceased by his parents, Alla and Tillie; his daughter, Mary; son in infancy, Joseph Daniel; sister, Loie Jacques and his granddaughter, Terri-Lynn Tomiczek.

Many thanks to Dr. Khodadad, Dr. D’Intinio, Michelle Kelly, VON, Lenore Sprake and to the many nurses for their tender caring.

A Celebration of Life for Manny will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 11 a.m. at J.M. Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney Highway.
