CAMPBELL, Dougald Anthony ‘Dougie’

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, Dougie Campbell, age 76, on July 23, 2018 at the New Waterford Hospital. Born in New Waterford on December 22, 1941 he was the son of the late Dougald and Elizabeth (Fraser) Campbell.

Dougie was a kind, hardworkin­g man, who truly loved his family. He worked as a coal miner in No. 12 and Lingan Colleries for 25 years. He was involved in horse racing and enjoyed a game of tarbish whenever the opportunit­y arose.

He is survived by his children, Andy (Donna), Dougald (Jill), Elizabeth (Liz) and Lynn (Campbell) Usher, all of New Waterford; grandchild­ren, Matthew, Ethan, Adam, Jonathan, Rebecca, Andrew, Brittany, Michael and Sophie; two great-grandchild­ren, Kennan and Jazlyn; sisters, Janie Crowley and Bette Campbell, Mass., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Dad was predecease­d by brothers, Ewen, John Alex, Hartigan; sisters, Mary Brewer, Theresa Westhaver, Olga Wilcox, and son-inlaw, John Usher.

Visitation will take place Thursday, July 26 from 5-8 p.m. A chapel service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiatin­g followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, and all are welcome.
