MACINNIS, David Francis

-

East Bay

We are saddened to announce the passing of David Francis MacInnis, East Bay, on July 24, 2018 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Dave was born on May 9, 1946, in Sydney, son of Mary B and John J. MacInnis.

Dave grew up on Sutherland Street. Along with his family, he was an active member of St. Theresa’s Parish, volunteering in various capacities. David was a man of deep faith which gave him great peace in times of trial. This “Ashby Boy” developed a keen interest in hockey and sports. He followed many teams closely over the years, favouring Montreal and taking great enjoyment in watching the Leafs lose.

After finishing school and dedicating himself for many years to lovingly caring for his mother, Dave set out on the next adventure of his life, joining the community of Unity House in East Bay in 1992. At that time, he began a longstanding career in the pizzeria restaurant business, having a wonderful appetite himself. First was with Bin MacKinnon at Lakers and later with Kenny’s Pizza in Sydney River. Over the years Dave touched the hearts of many people, always delighting with an exquisite sense of fun and humour.

David loved to visit family and these visits involved travels throughout the United States, England and Scotland. Although he visited Buckingham Palace and the White House, he still enjoyed peaceful vacations in Cape Breton Highlands and weekends with his brother and very best friend, Marty.

Besides numerous friends and his Unity House Brothers and Sisters, David is survived by sisters, Deborah Beach (Chris), London England, Marilyn (Ron) Seilkop, Kentucky, USA and Martin MacInnis Westmount, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for David will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel in Sydney on Friday July 27, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass for David Francis MacInnis will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St Theresa’s Church on Saturday, July 28 with Fr. Albert Maroun officiating.

Internment at Resurrection Cemetery.
