Riding on the right road

We all come to our own personal crossroad at some point in our lives

Have you ever been traveling somewhere and got yourself lost?

Slowly you start to worry, you soon become confused about which way to go and then hopefully you’ll come to a crossroads.

A crossroad is a good thing because there is a chance that you could turn in the right direction. The trouble with being lost is you don’t know which way is the right way to go.

Do you go right? Yes I should go right but then you doubt and think maybe I should go left. As you think a little harder maybe straight ahead would be the best way to go. The only road that seems to be the wrong road is the one you drove on to get to where you are.

As I picture this dilemma I can see how life often takes us down dead-end roads and into difficult places where we feel lost.

Lost as a parent when you are trying to raise your children.

Lost as a spouse in a marriage where there seems to be no love and respect.

Lost in an addiction that you thought for sure you had under control but now it’s controlling you.

Lost when a loved one dies and you don’t know which way to turn.

We understand that if we stay on the road we’re on, we’ll never find our way back to peace and happiness. We also understand that the world is not going to stop spinning and give us a break. We press on not because we want to but we hope that there is some sort of a light on at the end of this dark tunnel.

This searching of the soul is common. It’s a time when we will look up to see if there’s a higher power or some kind of divine intervention that can rescue us. Where do you turn? Where do you run to?

Colossians 3:16 “Remember what Christ taught, and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts.”

When you’re lost it takes faith to move in any direction and Romans 10:17 declares that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

I invite people to go to church not to walk in and run to the altar but to come and listen. Listen and then listen some more until His Divine Word touches you and gives you the faith you need to move forward.

So many people say that going to church has changed their lives, not so much in what they did, but it happened by what they heard. God’s Word is alive, honest, faithful, eternal and well able to help us in times of trouble.

People hear the good news about Jesus in their heart that it gives them a great hope for their future. They hear that all things are possible for those that believe. They hear that God is on their side and that His love belongs to them. They hear that it’s not so much the size of the mountain they face as it is in knowing the size of their much bigger God.

I pray that you find your way to a church in our community that can help point you in the right direction. That you find a place that’s filled will happiness, freedom, peace, and joy. God is good and I ask our good God to bless you all.
