Cape Breton Regional Police will be among those represented Saturday at a regimental funeral in Fredericton for two slain police officers.

Desiree Vassello, spokesperson for the regional municipal force, said as of Wednesday, 10 officers were expected to attend the memorial service although final numbers wouldn’t likely be known until Friday.

Fredericton police officers Constable Robb Costello and Constable Sara Burns were among four people killed Aug. 10 after a shooting at a city apartment complex.

Two civilians, Bobbie Lee Wright and Donnie Robichaud, were also killed.

Matthew Vincent Raymond has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder. He is set to appear in court on Aug. 27.

Investigators have yet to offer comment on a possible motive for the shooting.

Vassello said the central office of the police service, located on Grand Lake Road, is hosting a book of condolences for local residents to sign. The book is located in the main lobby and can be accessed during business hours.

She said officers attending the funeral Saturday will deliver the book to their colleagues in Fredericton.

Vassello said the local force continues to be prepared to assist their friends and colleagues in New Brunswick with what they need during this time of heartache and sorrow.
