It is with a deep sense of loss we announce the passing of our mother, grandmothe­r, great grandmothe­r and friend, Florence (Reid) Morrison, age 98, on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.

Born in North Sydney on March 8, 1920, Florence was the daughter of the late William and Violet (St. Croix) Reid.

Florence had a zest for life and a strong personal faith which was apparent to all who had met her. She studied to be a teacher and worked in the North Sydney school system. She was a trained soloist who shared her musical gifts over the years and was a very special baker and cook. Often when asked how she was feeling she would say “Fine dear not an ache or a pain” with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.

Florence is survived by her three sons, Jeff (Sandy) Morrison and Bill (Mary) Morrison, both of Kingston, ON, James (Muriel) Morrison, North Sydney; her grandchild­ren, Stephanie (David), Tania, Carla (Kevin), Daniel (Carey), Jason and Sarah (Chris), also surviving are a number of great grandchild­ren.

Florence was predecease­d by her loving husband, James Morrison; brother, Horace Reid; sisters, Dorothy Conelson and Daisy Reid and great-granddaugh­ter, Rebekah Morrison.

The family would like to thank the staff of Miners Memorial Manor who treated Nan like family.

Visitation for Florence will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Beech St., North Sydney with Rev. John Hannem officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome as Florence always loved their beauty.
