BERNARD, Gerald Noel

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother Gerald Noel Bernard, 68. Gerald passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 surrounded by loving family.

Gerald was a long-time resident of Breton Ability Centre, in Sydney River, where he had many wonderful friends, who affectionately nicknamed their special friend ‘Boo’. He was a kind, gentle sole, he didn’t have speech, but he spoke volumes with his big heart and bigger smile. He was a member of Holy Family Parish Eskasoni. Gerald loved his annual pilgrimage to the Saint Ann’s Mission in Chapel Island where he got to reconnect with all of his family and friends.

Gerald is survived by nine sisters and two brothers, Eleanor Mitchell, Chapel Island, Angel Pilch, Toronto, Eva Bernard, Sydney, Theresa Martin, Millbrook, Rose Bernard, Halifax, Aggie Sheffield, Mississippi, Irene Bordelon (Randall), Virginia, Lucina Bernard, Dartmouth, Mike Bernard, Eskasoni, Margaret Paulette, Eskasoni, Tommy Bernard (Nancy), Eskasoni; sister-in-law, Mary Bernard, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Catherine Bernard (Leenders) and William J. Bernard, and brother, Joe Bernard.

Visitation for Gerald will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Gabriel Centre 70 Gabriel St., Eskasoni, NS, continuing until the Funeral Mass on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni.
