HILL, Michael

-

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on August 21, 2018 while surrounded by family at the age of 76.

Born November 12, 1941 to the late Simon and Catherine (MacLeod) Hill, he is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughters, Tanya (Lloyd), Michelle (Charles), Jacqueline (Jimmy) and Alanna; sons, Vincent, Glen and Darryl (MaryJane); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Simon (Pauline) and Allan; sisters, Catherine and Evelyn, along with many nieces, nephews and his furbaby, ‘Noog’.

Predeceased by son, Shane; brothers, Garfield, David, Samuel, Kevin and Thomas; sisters, Winifred, Margaret, Bridget, Mary and Elizabeth.

His younger years were spent working on farms on P.E.I, later returning to Cape Breton, working at Lingan Golf and Country Club. It brought Da much joy to see his grandchildren visit, always eager to cook their favorite dish and have a treat for each. Known for his quick wit and always having a joke to be told, Da always brought laughter to a room and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A heartfelt thank you to Allie who with his steadfast and unwavering support eased this most difficult time for both his brother and our family. Special thanks to the staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Glace Bay Hospital, and New Waterford Homemakers for the constant professionalism, care and compassion shown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the S.P.C.A, Red Cross or charity of ones choice.

In honoring Das wishes, cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, McLeods Road, Glace Bay.
