James Stewart MacLellan is registered for this year’s Cape Breton Fiddlers Marathon. The Fiddlers Marathon was started in 2005 by the late Lydia Dickson and aims to promote a physically active lifestyle. This year, the Cape Breton Fiddlers Marathon takes place on Sept. 9, and includes 5k, 10k and half marathon distances and is a Boston qualifying marathon. What is something else you like to do in your spare time: Water ski and read.

Which race are you doing at Cape Breton Fiddlers Marathon in September: Marathon or possibly the 5k. Longest run (by distance or time) you have ever done: Marathon.

What do you like to eat or drink after you run: Ice cream. Do you call yourself a runner: Why or why not? Yes it’s a lifestyle.

What are your goals in running: My goal is to run my fastest race and to have nothing left in me at the end of the race. How has running changed you: It made me more competitiv­e and gave me a whole new outlook on what runners go through.

Why do you like to run: I love competitio­n and love competing. Favourite place to run: Anywhere on the road.

What is the best advice you’ve received to date about running? Run your own race.

What is something you learned about yourself through learning how to run? What I learned is that running is a lifestyle. What are three words that describe how you feel after a run? Glad it’s over.
