Colleen passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on August 25, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Her last hours were spent with her daughter, Rhea.

Colleen was born in Inverness, NS, in 1953, and grew up in the Ball’s Creek area, after the family move from Port Hood.

She was an intelligen­t, witty and kind person who loved people and to socialize with friends and family.

Colleen was predecease­d by her parents, John Hugh (Buddy) O’Connor and Doris (Gordon) O’Connor, as well as, her special friend John Roland. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Rhea van Dommelen and granddaugh­ter, Annamaria off Moncton, New Brunswick and Karrie Porter (James Desjardins) and grandchild­ren, Mira and Remy of St. Catharine’s, Ontario. Also survived by siblings Marilyn O’Connor LaRusic, Vanderhoof, BC; Joan O’Connor, Sydney, NS; Joe O’Connor, Toronto, ON; John O’Connor, Calgary, AB; Kathy O’Connor Adams, Malagash, NS; Carolyn O’Connor, Dartmouth, NS; and Jonathan O’Connor, CBS, NL, as well as, nieces and nephews Kelly Ross, Jeffrey Whyte, Megan McDonald, Erin Macdonald-Weir, Sean, Scott and Logan O’Connor and Jake and Charlie O’Connor along with numerous Aunts, Uncles and extended family and her good friend Marianne Macdonald of North Sydney.

A family funeral service will be held in Inverness at a future date.

May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
