It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Johnston, age 75, on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Miner’s Memorial Manor.

Born in Sydney Mines on October 21, 1942, Sarah was the daughter of the late George Frederick and Mary Margaret (Wolstenhol­me) Johnston.

Sarah worked in the housekeepi­ng department of Harbour View Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Salvation Army in Sydney Mines until it’s closing, and now a member of Grace Fellowship Church.

Sarah loved life, her family and her friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, George Thomas (Tommy), and her sister, Agnes (Edison) Howatson. Also left to mourn are her nieces, Colleen Brown, Mariska Brown, and Madison Johnston; her nephews, Trevor Johnston, Memphis Johnston, James Brown (Shyla), and their children, Hunter, Hayley and Justin, her boys, Robert Iannetti, Joshua Iannetti, Sandy Basker and Troy MacKinnon, and her loved ones, Patricia Basker, and Kenzie and Gracie MacDonald.

Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her brother, William (Billy) and his wife, Sandra (MacKay).

Visitation for Sarah Johnston will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A celebratio­n of her life will be held on Saturday, at 2 p.m. in Grace Fellowship Church, with Pastor Richard Barnes officiatin­g. The burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church, following the service.
