We, the family of the late Nicholas Jon Dutton, regret to announce his sudden passing in Edmonton AB on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the young age of 28.

Nick was born in Scarboroug­h Ontario on October 20, 1989 before moving to Florence Nova Scotia in 1990, where he grew up making lots of friends along the way.

Nick was an avid skateboard­er growing up, often spending days and nights out with his friends doing what they loved. Nick also had a love for video games, spending quality time with friends, family and his pet cats, Jack and Atticus.

Nick is survived by his parents, Norman and Dianne Dutton; his sisters, Jennifer, and Jillian (Kenny) and his twin brother and best friend, Norm, at home. Also survived on his mother’s side by his grandfathe­r, Melvin Sparkes; his aunts, Debbie (Bob), and Denise; cousins, Melody, Bobby, Dwayne, Chris, Jason, Melanie; nephews, Cory, Kole, Kohen and Kaden; nieces, Carie, Jade and Jordyn, who all loved their uncle Nick and whom he loved dearly. On his father’s side Nick is survived by his uncles, Alex (Arlene), Ronnie (Trish); aunts, Debbie (Larry), Diana (Brian); cousins, Cherene, Carey, Jamie, Brian, Rayna, Leanne, Kaitlyn, Alicia and Kyle, all of Ontario.

Nick was predecease­d by his grandparen­ts in Ontario, Norman and Ilo Dutton; his uncle, Mel Sparkes and his grandmothe­r, Mary Sparkes of Florence.

Nick is also survived by many of his close friends since childhood, Jay Morrison, the Corkery family, Nathan Macintosh, Brian Bobbitt, Monique Fifoot, Jac MacNeil, Cory Marsh, also Raylene Stewart, who Nick had a special bond with over the years, and someone Nick could always count on and confided in.

It was always bound to be a good time when Nick was around. He would brighten any room whenever he walked in, with his contagious laugh and smile. His overwhelmi­ng generosity and humor made an impact on everyone who knew him. The impression Nick made on each and every one of us will never be forgotten. Nick will always be carried with us in our hearts and in our daily stories and memories, which he made with everyone of us.

Visitation for Nick Dutton will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines.

The funeral Mass celebratin­g his life will take place Monday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiatin­g. A reception will take place in the parish hall, following the service.
