CARROLL, John

With sadness, the family of John Carroll, announces his passing at Harboursto­ne Enhanced Care, Sydney on Monday, September 10, 2018.

Born in Sydney on May 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Jack and Agnes (Ferneyhoug­h) Carroll.

John was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served in the Militia at the Sydney Garrison in the Engineerin­g and Service Battalions. He retired from Sydney Steel and later worked as the bartender at the Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess and played in the dart league. He was a member of St. Theresa’s parish.

John is survived by his children, Janice Provencher, Nanimo, BC, Robert (Lorna), Grand Prairie, AB and Lorna (Charlie), Sydney; his seven grandchild­ren, Jennifer (Andrew), Shannon (Lee), Mark (Anoushka), Jonathan (Cat), Jordan (Ceara), Robert and Erin; and his four great-grandchild­ren, Haelan, Breah, Bennett and Reid; sister, Sheila (Emmitt) O’Callahan, Sydney.

He was predecease­d by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine (Currie); sister, Ivey Aldos; brother, Ron Lloyd.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 13 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Friday, September 14 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiatin­g. Interment in Resurrecti­on Cemetery.
