With heavy hearts we announce the passing of a loving husband, father and grandfathe­r, Joseph ‘Joe’ Peck on September 13, 2018 at Victoria County Hospital, Baddeck.

Born July 15, 1945, he was the son of the late James ‘Jim’ and Elizabeth Peck.

Joe had a strong Catholic faith and belonged to the St. Kateri Parish and Queen of the World Church. He was a successful Tobacco Shop owner and proud owner of a Mi’kmaw Basket Shop. As a skilled carpenter and fisherman, he held several jobs in Wagmatcook. Loving and raising his children was considered his greatest job on earth and he devoted himself to his wife, children and grandchild­ren. He cherished and loved unconditio­nally his nine grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Josephine Peck; children, Joanne (Rodney Alex), Eskasoni, Neilene (Jarret Julian) and Jamie (Joanne Peck), both of Wagmatcook; foster son, Shawn Paul, Wagmatcook; grandchild­ren, Libbie, Abby and Maria Alex of Eskasoni, Bison and Jaylene Julian of Wagmatcook, Dallas, Duncan, John B. and Isla Peck of Wagmatcook. Also surviving are godchildre­n, Terry, Flora Ann, Darren, Tash and Kim; sisters, Rita Pierro (Peter), Nancy ‘Nano’ Bernard (Charlie), Victoria Chapman, Ethylene Peck, Veronica Jeddore (Howard); foster sister, Martha Isadore (Stephen); other cherished family members, Bernie, Tommy, Peter and Alice Peck; along with numerous nieces, nephew, grand nieces and nephews, each having a special place in his heart!

Joe was predecease­d by sisters, Margaret Hart (Seward Hart) and Mary Janet Isadore (Isadore T. Isadore) and a daughter in infancy.

We the family would like to thank everyone who prayed and visited Dad in the hospital. A special thank you to Baddeck Hospital staff and Dr. Genge for lovingly caring for our husband and dad.

Visitation for Mr. Peck will start at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 at 10906 Highway 105, Wagmatcook.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 22 at St. Kateri, Queen of the World Church with Fr. MacDonald celebratin­g. Interment in Wagmatcook Cemetery.
