Joseph Alphonse Corbett passed away quietly on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Sydney on April 13, 1939, he was the son of the late Michael and Elsie (Mombourque­tte) Corbett.

Joe was an excellent singer and entertaine­r. He will be long remembered and missed by his many friends on the Sydney boardwalk, Karaoke and the Sydney Legions. He was an original member of the Memory Lane Singers. Joe was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney. He had a long career in the Royal Canadian Navy and traveled to many foreign shores in his younger years.

Left behind to grieve are his wife, Norma (MacMillan) Corbett and son, Joseph Corbett Jr. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Mary Reid (Frank), Baddeck, Gen Patterson (George), Sudbury, Ont., Charlotte “Snook” Antonello (Maurice), Sydney and Bernadette “Bun” Ryan (Ray), Sydney; brother, Michael (Evelyn), Chatham, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Also left to grieve his loss are his long time friends, Theresa White and Roy and Peggy Nichol. Joe was fortunate to have many good and helpful neighbours over the years.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at his request.
