CARRIGAN, Kevin Joseph

-

Kevin Joseph Carrigan, 62, born August 7, 1956 - a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and a true craftsman, passed away September 24, 2018.

Kevin’s influence remains embedded in the lives of his beloved siblings Greg, Vince (Carol), Cathy (Kevin), Paul (Tracey), Phyllis (Phillip), Shauna (Scott) and the rest of his family; which extends beyond blood.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents Ralston and Joyce Carrigan.

From a band of misfits finding their way in Calgary, AB, to a brotherhood of carpenters linked by union. A master of his trade, Kevin left his mark through the structures that stand strong across the country and most importantly on this island that he was proud to call home. Kevin defined what it means to be a true carpenter – always measuring twice, cutting once and sometimes behaving just a bubble off plum.

Kevin was a caring and loving man who would drop everything to help a person in need. A man with many lyrics and few words, his courageous strength and positivity carried him through life – a hand in his pocket, walking in stride, whistling a favourite tune.

To his inner circle, he was everything.

Husband to Kim of 32 years, he was a loving, kind, dependable man. Someone she could lean on, her partner in life. Together they shared a mutual respect for their commitment to home and family. “Your love warms me like my favourite morning tea”.

To his daughter Julie (Juju Bean), he was the first man she ever loved and the one she will always look up to the most. They shared the same compassionate and spontaneous spirit. He would say she has his “carpenters eye”. A “Faja” – “Daja” relationship filled with laughter and love.

To his son Raymond (Boo Bot), he was a hero and role model. More than just a hockey buddy and music mastermind, together they shared a love for explaining the universe. A father – son bond that time will never erase.

To sum up his outlook on life in a lyric: “There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known, nothing you can see that can’t be shown, there’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be, it’s easy – all you need is love, love is all you need.”

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia in memory of Kevin (donate.habitatns.ca). There will be a celebration of his life to be announced at a later date.
