Workshop for new 4-H leaders

- BY MARINA GILLIS AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP CO-ORDINATOR

As of Dec. 1, 4-H clubs across Cape Breton Island will have registered for the 2018 year.

The program will be welcoming new cloverbuds (7-8 years old), some new 4-H members, and of course, lots of returning members. As well, experienced leaders will be joined by new to the 4-H program volunteers to permit additional projects and opportunities for youth across Cape Breton Island.

Each new 4-H leader will have paperwork to complete to register and will also have training provided.

Welcome to the 4-H Team is a workshop that introduces 4-H to the new leaders. This workshop will be provided in the Cape Breton Region as needed in November and December. As well, returning leaders are welcome to attend a session.

During these sessions, leaders will be given information regarding the 4-H program, the leader screening process and what resources and support systems are available. This session is an opportunity to ask questions regarding the program.

Returning 4-H leaders are asked to check the status of their leader screening cards and if needed, to update their screening as soon as possible.

Leader screening and registration packages are available on the 4-H Nova Scotia website at http:// novascotia4h.ca/forms-and- information/screening-forms-andinfo.

For additional information contact Marina.Gillis@novascotia.ca to set up an information session with interested community members.
