Sir John A. Macdonald, Horton High School win NSSAF golf provincial­s in Cheticamp

A pair of mainland Nova Scotia schools have taken home Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation golf provincial titles.

In the boys division, Sir John A. Macdonald High School of Upper Tantallon won the provincial title, finishing with a score of 244 at Le Portage Golf Course on Monday.

Cobequid Educationa­l Centre (CEC) of Truro and Charles P. Allen High School of Bedford finished tied for second with overall scores of 246.

Riverview and Memorial were the top Cape Breton schools in the boys division, finishing tied for seventh place with a 271. Dalbrae Academy of Mabou and Cape Breton Highlands Academy of Terre Noire finished tied for 13th place with a 291.

Andrew Cash of Sir John A. MacDonald finished first in the individual aspect of the event, shooting a 73. Jake Smith (76) of Dartmouth High School and Isaac McNaughton (77) of CEC finished second and third, respective­ly.

In the girls division, Horton High School of Wolfville captured the provincial title, shooting 174. Halifax West High School (178) and Charles P. Allen High School (183) rounded out the top three.

Memorial was the top Cape Breton school in the girls division of the provincial tournament, finishing sixth with a score of 215. Dalbrae Academy locked up seventh place with a 282.

Haley Baker of Halifax West High School was the top shooter in the division, finishing the tournament with a 78. Sara Cumby of Horton (82), and Courtney Oakfield of Citadel High School in Halifax (90) wrapped up the top three in the division.
