Nemis continues streak as BEC defeats Memorial

Daniel Nemis scored seven goals to power Breton Education Centre of New Waterford to a 9-5 win over Memorial in Cape Breton High School Soccer League boys’ action at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines on Monday.

Devon MacLeod also found the back of the net for BEC, scoring twice.

Jacob Johnson responded by netting all five goals for Memorial.

Nemis scored three goals last week against the Riverview Reds, helping BEC win that contest 6-0.

In girls action, Katie Hasiuk had a hat-trick to lead the Sydney Academy Wildcats past the Memorial Marauders 6-2 at Open Hearth Park in Sydney.

Alesha Hoban had a pair of goals for the Wildcats, and Ava Marks added a single marker.

Olivia Lee and Amy Kublek answered with goals for the Marauders.

At Riverview High School, Rose MacLeod and Maddie Coleman each scored goals for the Riverview Reds as they blanked Glace Bay 2-0.

Chloe Parsons recorded the shutout in goal for the Coxheath school.

In Cape Breton Middle School Soccer girls’ action on Monday, Isabella White and Emmy Donovan fired home three goals apiece to help Breton Education Centre edge Oceanview Education Centre 6-5 at Overview Education Centre in Glace Bay.

Shannon Blois had three goals for OVEC, while Cate Burke and Madison Boutilier added single markers for the Glace Bay school.

In Whitney Pier, Elia Murphy had a shutout as Whitney Pier Memorial blanked Sherwood Park Education Centre 8-0.

Maria Bran, Faith Tubbert and Saddie Parnaby each fired home two goals for Whitney Pier. Katie Clements and Ella Bottomley also chipped in with goals.
