Four Cape Breton men facing drug and weapon offences

SYDNEY — Two of four men charged with drug and weapon offences are to return to provincial court Tuesday for a bail hearing.

Chadwick Russell Taylor, 38, of Birch Grove Road is charged with unauthoriz­ed possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm and possession for the purpose of traffickin­g in cocaine.

He made a brief court appearance Friday and was remanded pending the outcome of a bail hearing Tuesday.

Aaron Peter Hersey, 39, of Aspen Grove Road, Howie Centre, is charged with possession of a firearm with no license (Mossberg 500 pump action shotgun), possession of ammunition with no licence, careless storage of a weapon, careless storage of ammunition, and being in a vehicle knowing a weapon was present.

He is also scheduled for a bail hearing Tuesday.

Two other accused, Coady Hudson MacDonald, 39, of Birch Grove, and Patrick Alphonsus Farrell, 48, of Birch Grove Road, are both charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g in cocaine, possession of ammunition with no licence and careless storage of ammunition.

Both accused have been released on conditions and are to enter pleas Nov. 1. The charges were filed after Cape Breton Regional Police executed a search warrant of a residence in Birch Grove Thursday night. Margaret Harvey 37, both of Henry Street are charged with possession for the purpose of traffickin­g in clonazepam. The offence is alleged to have occurred Aug. 1 in Sydney.

Both are to return to court Oct. 31 to enter pleas.
