Preliminary property assessments for 2019 now available online

-

SYDNEY — Preliminary assessments for property owners in Nova Scotia are now available through the Property Valuation Services Corp. (PVSC), the body responsible for setting assessments for municipal taxation purposes.

It’s the fifth consecutive year that PVSC has made published preliminary assessment information online.

The 2019 property assessments reflect the physical state of the property as of Dec. 1, 2018.

According to PVSC, assessors are still reviewing properties and conducting inspections and, as a result, the information published is subject to change as certain details, such as permits, might not be included in the preliminary assessment. Property owners can view their assessment at www.pvsc.ca, using the property search feature or individual “My Property Report” tool. It requires a property owner’s assessment account number and PIN number, found on their 2018 assessment notice. “We encourage property owners to take advantage of the opportunity to review their property information. If you have questions or would like to discuss your assessment, please contact us,” said Carlos Resendes, vice-president of business and innovation services for the PVSC. PVSC is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 1-800-380-7775 to provide assistance or set property owners up to speak directly with an assessor who will review their property details, explain the assessment process and speak to local real estate markets.

Property owners have until Nov. 26 to sign up to receive their assessment notice online via Canada Post’s epost™ service.
