The family of Norma Jane Doucette sadly announces her passing on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born March 12, 1957 in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Mary Jane and Frank Gould.

Norma was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni. She prayed daily and loved our patron saint, St. Anne and made her annual pilgrimage trips to St. Anne de Beaupre. She was an active member of the Eskasoni Pilgrimage for 18 years. She was the greatgreat-granddaugh­ter of the late Grand Chief John Denny. Norma worked with the Eskasoni Band Council as a Social Developmen­t Clerk for many years until she retired.

She will be missed by her co-workers, especially by her friend Thomas Christmas. She was a kind hearted and loving person and will be missed tremendous­ly by family and friends. She loved to go on her facebook, playing bingo and gambling. She had a large family with a lot of relatives, nieces and nephews. She was loved by all her friends and had two special BFF’s, Miranda Bernard and Audrey Stevens, who will be her friends forever.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Doucette; children, Sheridan ‘John Boy’ Gould (Teedaze); Omar Gould (Jade Robinson); Vernon ‘Eddie; Blaze Lorenzo (Anjilin Denny); Norma Jean ‘Coco’ (Anthony Michael); Pauline (Nicole Knockwood); Abraham; grandchild­ren, Kendra, Omar Ji’j, Maverick, Christophe­r, Mitchell, Justin, Ava, Theodrick, Julianna, Keeley, Keyanna, Kellee, Tiannie, Piper, Taihler ‘Jinky Jolly’, Lyviah and Aliah. Also surviving are great-grandchild­ren, Carley, Camyren, Carmen and Tayla; godchildre­n; Robbie Stevens, Louis ‘Hudd’ Paul, George Jeddore and Faith Gould. Norma is survived by her siblings, Francis Gould (Mary Ellen), Marina Denny (Richard), Rita Isaac, Russell Gould, Kenny Gould (Priscilla) and Allister Gould (Cindy).

She was predecease­d by an infant child; siblings, Pauline Googoo, Emily Phillips, Milton Gould, Simon Gould, Freda Bernard, Russell Ji’j Gould and Margaret Simon; godchildre­n, Livia Kay Bernard and Lytnen Denny and father figure Allison Bernard Sr.

Visitation for Mrs. Doucette will begin after 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Gabriel Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni with Fr. Joe MacKenzie officiatin­g. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery.
