Woman injured following ATV collision

L’ARDOISE — A collision between two ATVs has resulted in one woman being transporte­d to hospital with non-life-threatenin­g injuries and two men facing charges.

The collision occurred on Salmon River Road in L’Ardoise, Richmond County and was reported to RCMP on Tuesday at 6:13 p.m. Police say in their initial investigat­ion that two ATVs collided head-on. One had a male driver and female passenger. The female was thrown from the ATV and injured. The second ATV was occupied by a lone male driver. Neither of the two drivers was injured.

One driver, who remained on the scene, was charged with possession of stolen property, impaired driving causing bodily harm and driving with a blood alcohol concentrat­ion of over 80 mg.

He is also charged with driving while having his licence revoked. He is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury provincial court on Dec. 11.

The second driver left the scene before police arrived but was located a short time later by the RCMP.

He was arrested and will be charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving while disqualifi­ed. He is also scheduled to attend Port Hawkesbury provincial court on Dec. 11.

The investigat­ion is ongoing.
