Robert Gerard Gallant, 55, passed away peacefully on Oct 12, 2018 in the

QEII Palliative Care Unit.

Born in Sydney, Rob was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Aucoin) Gallant.

He is survived by sisters, Cathy (Gary Tighe) and Denise McEwen; nephews, Nathan Tighe and Adam Tighe; niece, Krystle McEwen, all of Sydney and niece, Amanda McEwen, Cochrane, Alberta. He is also survived by many members of the Aucoin, Gallant and Ellsworth families including his godmother, Christine Aucoin, Glace Bay.

Rob leaves behind many friends who will always remember his

easygoing humour, friendship and great sense of style. After living in

Sydney for many years he moved to Halifax in 2002 and made many more

friends who became like family. Rob was blessed to have such good

people in his life that cared so much.

Thank you to special friends, Linda and George and everyone who called and visited Rob at home and in hospital. Also, many thanks to staff on 7A at VG and all the health care profession­als that helped Rob during his two year battle with lung cancer.

Rob has donated his body to Dalhousie University so interment will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to join us at the Black Diamond, Townsend St., Sydney on Oct 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. to share memories of Rob. There will also be a celebratio­n of his life planned at Charlie’s Club in Halifax.

Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care at QEII, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
