TIMMERMAN, Mary Elizabeth

-

We are saddened to announce the death of Mary Elizabeth Timmerman on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the age of 100 years.

Mom was the daughter of Angus MacRury and Elizabeth (Mullet) (Carter) MacRury.

After graduating from Normal College in Truro, Mom taught in several schools in Glace Bay. Mom loved to skate and that’s where she met my father, William (Billy) Timmerman, who predeceased her in 1992.

She was also predeceased by her parents; half-sisters; Melissa, Nell and Violet Carter and half-brother, John MacRury. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mom was a member of Knox United Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. She was a member of the Jubilee Rebekah Lodge #14 where she held various positions.

Mom is survived by myself, Lorne and my wife, Pat; grandsons, Scott and his wife, Nicole, Calgary and Steven, Sydney; great-grandsons, Jarret and Jeremey Timmerman, Calgary.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home. Service will be held on Friday October 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Burial to follow in Black Brook Cemetery.

Pat and I would like to thank the many people who helped care for Mom: Cape Breton Homecare, staff at The Glace Bay General, 3rd and 4th floors and the ER, and a very special thanks to the folks at Seaview Manor where Mom resided for the last several years and to Dr. Stephanie Ellerker, Mom’s family physician who mom loved.

If you wish memorial donations may be made to Knox United Church, Seaview Manor or a charity of your choice.

On-line condolences may be made to the family at www.pattenfuneral.com.
