BUDDEN, Arthur

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Budden of Halifax, on October 17, 2018, one week after his 88th birthday, at Northwood, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late John and Mary (Clark) Budden. He lived most of his life in Glace Bay and for more than the past fifteen years, he lived in Dartmouth and Halifax.

He is survived by daughter, Faith (Londo) Scattolon; son Gardiner (Cheryl) Budden, Halifax; grandchild­ren Victoria, Acton and Kaelyn and by the mother of his children, Glenda (Dodie) Budden. He is also survived by sister, Ann Johnson, Glace Bay; brother, Gerry (Judy) Budden, Sydney, and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by brothers, Abe, Albert, John ‘Jack’, Leonard, Robert ‘Bob’, and sisters, Edith and Florence.

He was very fond of anything to do with Cape Breton or Newfoundla­nd, from the music to the history of both islands. In his later years, he enjoyed researchin­g the history of his parents’ families in Newfoundla­nd. For many years, he assembled a newsletter of this history and stories of growing up in Glace Bay with his brothers and sisters that he would mail to all his nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist­s, Bedford. (902-8354212).

A private service will take place in the spring in Cape Breton.
